Most Valuable Cards from Ninja Spinner: Mega Greninja ex Dominates Early Prices
Ninja Spinner is Here — Card Values, Chaos Rising Details, and More!
Ninja Spinner has officially launched in Japan, and with it comes a flood of card reveals, early price data, and confirmation of what English players can expect when Chaos Rising drops on May 22nd. Here's everything you need to know.
Early Card Prices: Mega Greninja ex Dominates
As expected, the set's gold card — #122 Mega Greninja ex — takes the top spot at ¥94,800 (~$593), consistent with previous gold cards from main sets.
The real surprise is the #2 spot: rather than a Supporter card, it's Mega Greninja ex's Special Illustration Rare (#116) at ¥39,800 (~$250) — well ahead of every other secret rare. This is likely driven by Greninja's massive fanbase and the fact that its artwork connects beautifully with the Illustration Rares of Froakie (#088) and Frogadier (#089), all illustrated by Susumu Maeya.
Even Mega Greninja ex's full art (#100) is holding its own, sitting around $21 — on par with the SIRs of Roxie's Performance, Mega Floette ex, and Cinccino ex. That's a remarkable showing for a full art.
Other notable prices at a glance:
Mega Dragalge ex SIR — ¥2,980 (~$18.77)
AZ's Tranquility SIR — ¥1,480 (~$9.32)
Special Red Card FA — ¥1,280 (~$8.06)
Froakie IR — ¥1,280 (~$8) (top-ranked Illustration Rare, double the others)
Among Double Rares, Mega Greninja ex stands out at $4 and Beedrill ex at $1.50, likely reflecting their competitive playability. Most other Double Rares sit at 75 cents or less.
🇺🇸 Chaos Rising: What English Players Get
Chaos Rising will be an almost direct translation of Ninja Spinner, arriving as our fourth English Mega Evolution set. Here's the confirmed breakdown:
122 cards total
5 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex: Mega Pyroar ex, Mega Greninja ex, Mega Floette ex, Mega Dragalge ex, and likely Mega Gallade ex (promo)
5 Pokémon ex: Beedrill ex, Gourgeist ex, Cobalion ex, Cinccino ex, and likely Krookodile ex (Gym promo)
11 Illustration Rare Pokémon
18 Ultra Rare Pokémon and Trainer cards
6 Special Illustration Rares
20+ Trainer cards
The Elite Trainer Box promo will be Fennekin's Illustration Rare (#085), cut from the main set. Froakie's IR was likely skipped since it forms a connected triptych with Frogadier and Mega Greninja ex — pulling it would leave the other two incomplete.
Like Phantasmal Flames and Perfect Order, Chaos Rising will be one of the smallest English sets since 2010, a trend likely tied to global TCG printing shortages.
Prereleases run May 9th–17th. Preorders on PokemonCenter.com aren't live yet, so keep watch on Twitter or your preferred Discord servers for notifications.
Connected Artwork to Watch For
If you're chasing the connected artwork trio, you'll want all three of these:
#088 Froakie (Illustration Rare)
#089 Frogadier (Illustration Rare)
#116 Mega Greninja ex (Special Illustration Rare)
There's also a second connected pair worth noting — Watchog's IR (#097) and Prism Tower's full art (#111) share the same setting and illustrator, MARINA Chizakawa.
Stay tuned for more Chaos Rising updates as preorders go live!
